This is a well written easy to understand book on the Mayan, Aztecs, and Incas. It kind of feels like you are reading cliff notes for an exam but adds a significant amount of detail to the topics. Yet its not overwhelming in detail thus allowing you to discover other books on the topics. If you are just starting to learn about these cultures these books are a good starting point
Really good read, there is a lot of information and I love the narrative of keeping in mind the old saying of "history is written by the winners". Reminds you there is a lot of things we might never really know about this civilizations but author does a good job of giving you the info we have.Give a try, it could lead to an interest on at least one of the civilizations that you can look for more reading material.

This series of books in Captivating History never fails to disappoint! With each read in this series I learn more & more But, the sad truth is History is written by the conquerors. I just wonder how much of these great civilizations were downplayed by the Spanish to make them look good.Never realized there are still so many Mayas who still exist & carry on their customs of old. And how much the Aztecs & Mayas were alone in that they practicec human sacrifice! I see the great Inca civilization would have been so much better if they had developed a writing system instead of oral traditions which lost much as it passed down through the generations. This really allowed the Spanish to write whatever they wanted to.This bundle of books are a great addition to the literature available on these civilizations!!!
This is definitely aimed at kids, which is fine, but the frenetic arrangement really doesn't hold together in audiobook form. It's INTERESTING, but feels very disorganized and the reader's voice is pretty bad. He has G-man-esque pauses and starts that make it hard to tell where one sentence begins and ends and even audibly clears his throat at parts. All in all, it just feels sort of rushed and slapped together.
